On July 14th, People's Daily interviewed Dr. Xu, the founder of LaSense, on the occasion of LaSense's relocation to the new office building in Qianhai North District. The report explores the history of LaSense's transformation from “industry, academia and research”, and summarizes the important time points and milestones of LaSense's development in the Greater Bay Area, especially the breakthroughs in the field of domestically produced scientific analytical instruments. This special report reflects the true feelings of LaSense, a young hard science and technology entrepreneurial team, combining the strengths of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, struggling and practicing in the Greater Bay Area.
In Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, in the North Zone of Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Dream Factory (hereinafter referred to as “Dream Factory”), a new logo - “LaSense Technology” - has been put on top of a 5-story building with a sense of technology.
“We were previously dispersed in several small offices in the central area of Dream Factory, but with the expansion of our company, we rented a whole floor on the third floor of Building M in the north area this year. This relocation marks the acceleration of the company's development.” Standing in front of the new office, the founder and chief executive officer of LaSense Technology, who has just moved to a “new home”, is full of energy.
In 2019, Xu Ke, relying on the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the field of advanced laser spectroscopy technology accumulation, began to start a business. From the campus to the Hong Kong Science Park, and then to the Dream Factory, in just a few years, LaSense has grown from a small team of a few people to a sizable startup with more than 20 licensed patents and 3 rounds of financing completed.
“This high-precision greenhouse gas analyzer MT01 is the company's flagship product, which has performed well in many public tests and its overall performance has reached international standards.” Xu Ke pointed to a white cube device about one person high and said, “domestic scientific instruments are increasingly valued, the company combines Hong Kong's scientific research advantages with the mainland's manufacturing advantages, and has developed a variety of laser gas analyzers and sensors series products with excellent performance and affordable price, and the relevant laser gas sensing equipment has begun to be applied in high-end scientific research, environmental monitoring, industrial gas monitoring and other scenarios.”
On June 30, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor was completed and opened. “Many of the company's suppliers in Zhongshan, Zhuhai, it will be more convenient to contact.” Xu Ke lamented that the development of the company thanks to the Guangdong and Hong Kong innovation support policies, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao are increasingly synergistic development, the flow of innovation factors more convenient, “the Greater Bay Area is a fertile ground for young people to struggle!”
The day of the interview coincided with the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, a transportation hub connecting the east and west coasts of the Pearl River, marking the increasing degree of synergistic development among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and the Greater Bay Area as a hot spot for young people to strive for science and technology innovation is also surging. As a representative enterprise that integrates Hong Kong's cutting-edge scientific research achievements into the industrial development of the Greater Bay Area, LaSense will be more confident to take root in this area, so that innovation elements such as technology, capital and market can flow more freely and efficiently in the process of enterprise development and create an independent brand of domestic scientific analyzers.
